Man arrested, charged with murder of Rocky Mount woman, police say
Police began investigating the woman's death as a domestic violence homicide.
Authorities on Sunday arrested a man they say killed a woman in Rocky Mount.
According to the Rocky Mount Police Department, officers responded to reports of an unconscious woman around 2:58 a.m. on the 300 block of Marigold Street.
The woman, whose identify is being withheld until family is notified, was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS. Police began investigating the woman's death as a domestic violence homicide.
The suspect, 43-year-old Scottie Jeffries, was arrested at the scene and charged with first-degree murder. Jeffries was taken to the Edgecombe County Jail and placed under no bond.
The investigation is ongoing, according to police.
