Rutgers has struck again.

A year after bringing three North Carolina high school football players to New Jersey, Greg Schiano's program has added one for the class of 2025. Wide receiver Steven Murray committed to the Scarlet Knights on his X account on Sunday night. Murray attends Eastern Guilford High School in Gibsonville.

Murray would join former Mallard Creek wide receiver Ben Black and former D.H. Conley wide receiver Isaiah Crumpler (assuming neither transfers) in Piscataway after he graduates next December or next May. Rutgers also brought in former Asheville High School safety Noah Shaw during the 2024 recruiting cycle.

The rising senior is listed at 6-foot-1 and 160 pounds. He also plays defensive back regularly.

Murray is a two-time HighSchoolOT All-State selection. He was named an honorable mention during his sophomore season in 2022. Last fall, Murray was a second team Two-Way Player selection. In 2023, Murray had 55 receptions for 935 yards, and 16 touchdowns. Defensively, Murray was credited with 32 tackles, five interceptions, and eight pass breakups. He also had a kickoff return touchdown last fall.

Rivals considers Murray as a 3-star prospect and the No. 12 player in North Carolina for the 2025 class. He also held offers from Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, Syracuse, and Boston College.
