Bissell recalls stick vacs for battery fire hazard

Bissell is recalling some of it's vacuums after the battery caught fire, burning people and property.

Bissell is recalling some of it’s vacuums after the battery caught fire, burning people and property.

The recall includes Bissell Multi Reach Hand and Floor Vacuum Cleaners models 1985, 19851 (also called Multi Auto), 19859, 1985T, 2151, 21512, 21513, 21517, 21518, 21519, 2151A, 2151T, 2151W, 2151V.

Bissell has gotten 17 reports of the vacuums smoking and giving off a burning odor. Six times the batter pack caught fire leading to three reports of property damage and two minor burn injuries.

Stop using the vacuums and contact Bissell for instructions on how to drain and dispose of the battery and get a free replacement vacuum.
